Slinky cards are cool in any slot. Slot 7 had better work for the mouse
card, since that's where it is in the memory expandable //c and //c plus.
All software except that written by dolts will locate the card wherever
it is.

Since you have a //e if I remember right, you need to put the device you want
to boot from in the highest slot. It's a good idea to have intelligent devices
in higher slots than the 5.25s. For instance, with the unidisk card in slot 7
and the 5.25 card in slot 6 in my //e, the box boots from the unidisk if
there's a disk in the drive, and skips down to slot 6 if not. I never figured
out why Apple didn't set up //c's like my //e is slot wise: 3.5 in slot 7,
5.25 in 6, slinky in 5, mouse in 4.
