I think I have to stand up for the ROM 3 here...  Granted, there ARE 
incompatibilities here and there, but there is one thing that makes the 
ROM 3 really kick butt (besides the extra RAM, socketed battery, and 
quieter design) and that's the slot/port sharing.  It's safe to say that 
my GS would not even function without that little ability.  Just last 
night I was printing to a parallel card in slot 2 (with control panel set 
to modem port) and hacking around my account on Spectrum through the 
modem port)

Not having to touch the control panel is NICE.
