I upgraded my 8Mhz/16k Zip GSX to 8Mhz/64k, and the most noticable
improvement was when using ShrinkIt GS, it un-shrunk smaller files in
one "step" or "swoop" - before, there'd be a pause about 3/4 through
the decompression on smaller files (2k-3k), almost a second long, but now
even larger files (2k-5k) are decompressed and written in one swoop.
I'm still waiting to get back my "experimental GS" from a friend (hi
Kingfisch!) which has a Zip GSX with the new 14Mhz 65816 and 64k cache
(.3mil modification), but it's only stable up to about 10Mhz, because
I'm using the awful ISSI chips. Harold has said that these ISSI chips
work well in TransWarps, but are bad in Zips.
Thanks,
Pete
