     If you know your cable is going bad-- i.e. you've checked the cable
with an Ohm meter and found discontinuities and/or you've substituted a
friend's cable and it cleard up your problems--, then, the replacement
should fix things.

     If you are not sure the cable is going bad, you may want to do the
checks mentioned above. Some users have had problems with ADB plugs on the
KB. If slightly wiggling the cable near the point where it plugs into the
KB causes problems, the plug is a good suspect. (Try plugging the cable
into the plug used by the mouse and do the wiggling test.)

     The cure for a "bad KB plug" is, often, to open the KB and repair
connections to the plug.
