Well, when I first entered #appleiigs, I stayed there for many minutes. I
have never heard of the A2GS channel before, so I expected there a few
people chatting about AppleII's and everything like all the nice folks in
my user group. I have not been prepared for an icy silence.

Well, I wanted to be friendly and said a few words of greetings. Finally,
only one person whose name I don't want to mention bothered to talk to me...
He informed me that saying 'hello' is considered 'obnoxious behaviour' (!)
and that the people here don't like talking about the AppleII anymore.
He said "They will probably kick your ass if you won't be quiet. I know
them and I am sure they will." When I said that such a cold climate scares
new Apple II users and programmers, he answered "They won't change for you.
They won't even change for me and they know me!". I left.

In the next days, I visited the channel several times, said nothing and
tried to hang around for a while. In all the days, nobody has wished to
talk to a newbie. Eerie silence, nothing else. Finally, I was bored and
scared and left this crypt. Later I met Jawaid Bazyar and we have had
a wonderful discussion about several topics. I bet that dozens of other
A2 users have made similar experiences.

Jawaid told me that this was the reason why he has created this channel.
In the meantime, he has moved to another server.

I guess it's time for the founding of another non-elite AppleII
channel! Soon....
