I called Apple's web page and found they still make the Apple MIDI
interface. Cut and pasted description follows:
Part number Description
A9M0103 Apple MIDI Interface
Connects Apple IIGS or Macintosh CPUs to MIDI equipped
musical instruments. Cables included.
You probably will have to have a dealer order it.
I did find a MIDI interface listed in "The Mac Zone" magazine. It was
called MIDI Translator II Interface. It does connect to the modem port
but I don't know if it will work on the IIGS. It sells for $41.98. Order
#06780. There phone number is 1(800)248-0800.
WARNING!! Shameless plug follows.
Of course you will want to use your new MIDI interface with Music Composer
v4.01. Music Composer version 4.00 can import Music Studio files, along
with Sound Smith, synthLAB and standard MIDI files. It has both a
spreadsheet and sheet music interface. And has many many editing
features. It can be orederd directly from Effective Software Solutions
