The comparison: 16 to 8 = 8 to 4 is not really valid. Most data a GS
processes is 8-bits wide and the 65C816 has an 8-bit data bus, just like
the 65C02 and 6502. A GS "16-bit program" of any size is going to include
a lot of "8-bit code"; because 8-bit reads and writes are more efficient
when dealing with 8-bit data.
