Agreed. That's why I like the Yamaha MIDIPlug.
I think this is another case where Apple was hoping for third-party
vendor to take advantage of Apple's publication of the specs for the
instrument file. Yamaha has not yet said whether it will offer the
MIDIPlug setup as a QuickTime plug-in.
