Greetings all:
Well, following the advice of various csa2'ers, I've purchased
Proterm 3.1. I also ordered a cable which I believe is a
hardware handshaking cable, but isn't explicitly labelled as
such.
Anyway, I connected it all up, installed the software, and
I can connect to my company's machines at 14400, so I'm
pretty happy.
(I'm not wild about the editor/scrollback interfaces, but
that's another post. I also wish there were a way to
directly send Hayes commands to the modem. Or is there
one, and I just haven't found it?)
My only concern is: Proterm didn't come with a particular
"driver" (ie, specific init strings and other parameters)
for my modem; I had to use a generic 14.4 driver.
Is there one available? If not, how should I configure
my modem (which has dip switches as well as soft switches),
the Modem Port on my control panel, and the modem parameters
in PT3 itself?
Things seem to be working smoothly, but I want to be sure
I have error correction, etc. working correctly.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice on the original purchase,
and thanks to all who will reply to this query.
Cheers,
