The easiest way I had, back in the //c days, was to use a hot
knife to cut it open. You can bust the sonic welds ,but it tends to be
messy.
The most common failure I found was a blown fuse, usually due to a
failure of the internal power supply in the //c. FWIW, there are still
circuit breakers made by Littlfuse that work just peachy-keen in place of
the fuse (derate the breaker by about 25% to 50%, tho ... that is, if it's
a 3amp fuse, get a 4a to 4.5a circuit breaker.)
