Greetings:
I'm looking for a terminal emulator to run on my IIgs.
Specifically, I'm looking for a *FAST* VT100 emulator.
I've got a few shareware/freeware programs designed
for the IIgs. They tend to use the graphics screen
to provide special characters, etc. Unfortunately,
this drags down performance. (Or so it appears.
Is this just an illusion?)
Right now, I'm using an 8-bit Kermit package.
(I don't need Kermit, but the terminal is
fast.) It uses the text screen, and seems to be
the fastest program in my stable. It really lacks
nice UI features, though. The "dialing directory"
feature is horrible.
I've heard good things about ProTerm, so I figure
I ought to give it a try. I gather it too is only
8-bit. Is a GS version planned? How about upgrades
to the 8-bit version?
What is the latest version of ProTerm? Is there a
demonstration version available?
I want to use a 14.4 modem. Do I need a hardware
handshaking cable?
Is there a mail-order company which can sell me
both the software and the cable?
Thanks for your comments and suggestions,
