Oooh! I didn't even think of that one! The lazy man's solution to the
problem is to add a CALL 1002 statement just before the program exits to
warmstart BASIC.SYSTEM. If a STARTUP file exists, it would be in the same
directory as BASIC.SYSTEM, I believe. Have you tried launching this new
version of BASIC.SYSTEM by double-clicking on a known-good Applesoft
program icon? That would prove with some certainty if Neil is right...
