Yes, SetStart works. But only if you have all the parts installed in the
correct places.
SetStart is actually two programs working together--the SetStart control
panel itself, and the START program on the Installer disk. All the control
panel does is deposit the name of the desired startup program in memory
(this is done using MessageCenter). The START program then picks up this
program name and launches it.
Just because the System folder on your boot disk has a program called
"START" in it doesn't mean you've got the right START program. If you want
SetStart to work, then your boot disk's START program *must* be a copy of
the START program from the Installer disk.
If you use the Installer to install SetStart, then the right files will
automatically end up in the right places.
