Geeminy, this is the second time someone has said this. People, the ProDOS
extension from the //e card software is outdated and has been replaced with
PC Exchange. But if your hard disk's device driver doesn't recognize your
ProDOS volume as a disk volume, it won't show up no matter how many extensions
your system has for accessing ProDOS volumes. This is the reason I've seen
mentioned for this. My IIgs' hard disk was formatted on my Mac with Transoft
SCSI Director, an old shareware formatter. I'm soon replacing that hard disk
with an Apple ROM equipped Quantum which I can format with Apple's HD SC Setup.
This I'm told will put on a device driver which can tell that partition names
other than APPLE_HFS can be disk volumes. Ever look at the partition list on a
Mac hard disk? Every disk volume is in a partition named APPLE_HFS. If you
have a Mac formatted hard disk with a ProDOS volume on it, its partition name
in the partition list is the same as the ProDOS volume's name. If a driver
doesn't account for that, it'll ignore it just like it does APPLE_FREE and
other partitions which it doesn't believe are disk volumes. So kindly quit
telling me to install ProDOS file system and I'll get back to you with the
results once I have that hard disk formatted and partitioned like I want.
