Yeah, that's probably right. Like you, I don't have an unenhanced IIe to
check it out. <g>  I had thought I read somewhere that it does require
128K, though.

I have a 192K, 80-col.-equipped II+, and it is forced to use the old BYE
routine.  It could be the non-IIe RAM or the non-IIe 80-coo. or both.
