   First, did you try shiftbooting and seeing if the problem still
appears? If the system is fine when shiftbooted, then one or more
inits, das, cdevs, etc is trashing memory on your system. [The memory

   Sounds like you might be stomping on the display softswitches,
especially the 50Hz monitor setting. Again, try shiftbooting and
then yanking out non-Apple inits/das/cdevs until it works.

   If you have a 5MB AE GS-Ram+, that should not be on. The GS-Ram+
is DMA compatible to 4MB, after that, it's not happy.
