I have to disagree here.  Though I've not embarked on any grand projects, I 
can count at least 4 distinct cases where a HD crash or other disk-related
problems have effectively destroyed code snippets and programs...

I've also found that the likelyhood of a HD crash is directly proportional
to the magnitude of the project involved (e.g. 600k of sources for a compiler
and the resulting executable are about 1000 times more likely to get zapped
than a 10 line nibblet of code).

That brings up something I've been wondering lately...is there a name for this
phenomenon, or does it simply fall under the realm of Murphy's law?

Of course you would, since you seem to be an authority on the subject.
Personally, I consider Joe to be a very reliable source of information.  He's
never lied/spouted fallacies in the past (not with regard to concrete, 
technical facts), and I have no reason to believe he is now, either.  I don't,
however, plan to buy the video (which is beside the point.)

I find it very disturbing that after months of absence from the newsgroup that
the content has changed little - the few remaining 'authorities' on the 
Apple //'s are still being assaulted and doubted and, after several exits
from the scene, Dr. Tom is still here at the forefront.

I, for one, would like to commend Nathan Mates (despite our differences of
opinion with regard to religion) and Joe Kohn for their continuing service to
the Apple // community, especially considering they are volunteers for the
most part.
