    I don't trust HFS formatted partitions either. I did a little
experiment the other day, using an empty 220MB HFS partition, I
started filling it with files from all my ProDOS partitions. At 
some point I exceeded the disk limit and a 'Disk Full' message
appeared on screen. Immediately after this happened, the folder
and files that were in the process of being copied  (which was 
halted due to lack of space) were corrupted!

    I could not delete the folder or files affected at this point.
The following alert dialog appears:

 "System Error ($0051). This operation can't be completed.
  Directory if damaged."

    Thankfully this was only a test, so I can just format over the
partition to repair it, but had this been real use I'd now be stuck.
In case anyone is wondering, yes I've installed the HFS 1-byte patch.
Overflowing an HFS partition is dangerous, be warned. At this point
I doubt I'll make use of my two HFS partitions (over 400MB!) until
someone writes GS repair utilities or I have access to a Mac.
