Virtually NO bother. Methinks you MIGHT be thinking of the //gs,
which was NOT form/fit identical to the //e power supplies (altho it COULD
be coaxed - the plug was different, but the tapped screwholes were there
on the earliest of the //gs power supplies.) On the "Apple ][ Family"
(which, for the power supply, is all the desktop Apple //'s save for the
//gs, and a converted //e qualifies!), there are four screws to mount the
power supply. All the switchmode power supplies from the earliest Astecs
to the last of the home-grown ones fit with the four screwholes. They all
have the same 6-pin plug. They all have the power switch on the back and
the power cord IEC male socket on the back of the power supply (yes, some
rocked UP to turn on, some rocked DOWN, and on the power plug, some had
the ground pin UP and some DOWN - this is a problem for some folks? )

Ixnay. No splicing or drilling or nylon spacers needed. The
Jameco and JDR supplied power supplies are drop-in replacements on the ][,
][+, and the //e. (Save for the Jameco //gs power supply ... ).

This sounds very good also, if someone doesn't mind the power
supply being external.
