REQUEST: Apple IIc 5.25" drive to borrow?

Hello everyone!

My name is Michael E. Rubin and I live in a town near Chicago. My family
owns an Apple IIc we bought over ten years ago and my Power Computing
PowerCenter Mac clone. Basically, the power supply on the IIc is steadily
deteriorating and breaking down. We've already gotten it repaired once,
at great expense. The machine itself still works fine, but the supply is
going.

Before it completely dies, I need to transfer all the AppleWorks 2.0
databses, spreadsheets, and word processor files we have saved on 5.25"
floppies. We're talking almost 50 disks here, but much of them contain
useful data (to my father) and precious stories I used to write as a kid.
I know my Mac can read ProDOS and ClarisWorks is more than adept at
translating the files. But I am in need of a disk drive.

Thus, the request is this: I humbly ask the favour of anyone out there who
would be willing to lend me an Apple 5.25" floppy drive that I'd be able
to hook up to my Mac and read those 5.25" floppies' contents. I would be
more than happy to cover shipping costs and pay you a small stipend for
this great favour.

Please e-mail me right away if this is feasible ... I am in great need to
move quickly, but I need your help. Thank you very much. :)

...Michael
