Some RAMFast questions--upgrading?

Hello again,

There's been a lot written written about upgrading accelerators for the
IIGS, but I was wondering what's been done in the way of upgrading RAMFast
cards... (I know there was a thread some time back that touched on this,
but I missed all but the end... maybe a repost might answer all of my
questions.)
Specifically, a few questions:

1. Both my Rev C and D RAMFast cards have 256k on them, but I remember
somewhere hearing about 1MB configurations... maybe in an old C.V.T ad. Is
this something that can be upgraded? If so how, and is it worth the
efort?

2. About the ROM upgrades...My Rev C has V2.01 ROMs and my Rev D has V3.0
ROMs. So, What am I missing my not having the current (?) ROM 3.01f's on
them it? Again, is it worth it?

3. Now I understand also that that to get the REV D cards need some
modifications to run on a IIe with an accelerator (thanks for the info to
Chet & others!), otherwise you don't get DMA access. Is this a
modification that can be done at home, or do you *need* to send it off to
Sequential Systems to get it upgraded (thanks again, Chet for the help
with addresses!).

4. Given that there is a problem with accelerated IIes and RAMFast, is
there any possible problem with using an accelerated GS and the card?

5. Okay, the RAMFast manual notes that the card will work with DMA on and
if you have a AE RAMKeeper *only* if you have a single RAM card installed
in the RAMKeeper, *and* only if that RAMcard is fully DMA compatible.
However, my RAMKeeper has an (undocumented) DMA Support Card Connector.
SOOOO, I am wondering that if I have a DMA card installed in the RAM
Keeper connector (instead of in the RAM Card itself), would that make
*all* memory, on *all* cards, DMA compatible (and therefore fully
compatable with the RAMFast)?

(On this subject, I have to ask what is all this about the RAMKeeper
supporting up to 16MB of RAM if you have 2 (8MB) cards installed in it? I
thought the max memory of the GS was 8MB period? I know 16MB would be
overkill on a GS, except I 'm intrigued by the possibility of using it for
a RAM/ROM disk... (-8 )

Well, that's about it... hope I didn't ask anything *too* obvious... at
the least I'm hoping this might springboard an interesting thread for
awhile.

Any illuminations or comments are appreciated,
 Shawn Trimble
