   Go watch the movie _Independence Day_. [15 mile wide alien flying
saucers show up and deathbeam many cities to destruction, in case it
hasn't made it to Austalia yet.] Now, replace the texture mapping on
the saucers by Microsoft logos, and destroy Kansas instead of any
cities worth caring about. [Let's just say that there was general
clapping in the theater when Washington DC and especially the White
House got trashed :]

   And unfortunately, this wasn't hollywood where the good guys win
at the last second despite impossible odds. That explains the silence
rather nicely. Only our local Joe Kohn managed to announce his new
CDs there, andleave town before the deathbeams. :)
