    Yes. Some pre-IIe software uses ROM checking as a protection against
hacker PROMs-- the IIc+ ROM is likely to fail some of these checks.

    The 65C02 will not recognize undocumented 6502 opcodes used in a few
old programs.

    The IIc+ and, evidently, earlier IIc's use some scratchpad addresses
in the text/lo-res areas (i.e. the screen "holes")  for cursor definition,
and other functions. This is true even when you boot DOS 3.3. Programs
which load lores pics or other code into the $400-$7FF area may overwrite
values used by the IIc+. In some cases, the result is program malfunction.

    In many ways, the IIc+ is the neatest machine Apple ever produced.
However, it is also the least compatible with Apple II software produced
before 1984.
