First of all, how does Nathan Mates fit in to all this?
Second, what the heck is the problem? Any system that uses message
headers as filenames should be using something like HFS or DOS 3.3 or
UNIX, given the oddball titles that come up in message headers...ProDOS is
simply not flexible enough, and would be better to use some other indexing
system. That's just an opinion (from someone who has to deal with a
messaging system that uses MS-DOS, which is about as bad as it gets...),
and I really don't see what the problem is.
Finally, what is the problem with using "Apple ][" to refer to our
beloved machines? That's how one of my ][e's refers to itself; also,
"Apple ][" will never be mistaken for anything Macintosh...remember that
the Macintosh II does exist and it does cause confusion. And
typographically, I happen to like using the "][". I don't care if Apple
did abandon it about the same time that they did the big color-change.
Oh, and even though my ][gs has an "option" key and has a little pinwheel
on its open-apple key, those are still the open- and closed-apple keys. 8-)
