Opinions about this subject vary greatly. I stuck to Pascal for a long
time. Coming from BASIC the transition appears to be easier. But The
problems with Pascal are:
- It's very talkative. Prepare for huge amounts of typing.
- More and more programmers use C, which means that more and more
  code samples are in C as well
The disadvantages of C? Well all the code examples in the Toolbox manuals
are in Pascal...
But I'm glad I forced myself into learning C, I don't even feel the urge
using assembler any more (I was once a fanatic; of course it's needed
where the code has to be fast...). And C is just fun!

Finally, it probably helps to know both...
