Before DOS 3.0, there was only cassette tape. DOS 3.0 was Apple's first
released DOS version.
There are stories about an earlier "demonstration" DOS written in the last
few frantic hours before the opening of the trade show where the Disk II
was to be introduced, but I don't think it was ever made available to the
public.
