It is also necessary to connect an OctoRam card to the Ram Keeper card
as it is too thick to fit in the "back pocket" card-edge connector. I
have a similar problem with my Q-RAM GS card which is of similar
structure. My GS RAM III card will work on the front connector, but the
Q-RAM barely fits in the back pocket between the Ram Keeper and case
(plus that I'm missing the insulator and am using a bit of cardboard
taken off a box formerly containing a bar of soap). I'm sure the cards
and slots are being subjected to undesirable stress right now.
The size of the cards though are pretty small, so even if I did have a
card in slot 7, it would need to be almost full length to bump into the
GS RAM III.
Actually, I'm not even sure the GS RAM III will fit as it uses ZIP, not
DIP, chips which stick out from the card. (Also would like leads on
finding more of those chips to fully populate my GS RAM III to 4 MB.)

If I could just find out what the part numbers for those were (and where
I could get them, and AE isn't around anymore to provide either), I
could wire up the back connector to a ribbon cable and drape it over the
Ram Keeper and GS RAM III and suspend the Q-RAM card over the front of
them both, like so:

I could possibly save myself some parts by making a new stiff card to do
the same thing which would plug into the back pocket and sacrifice the
"Flex Connector", but I both cannot find card stock of the proper size
and rather not ruin the flex connector. :-/

Sounds like that's to boost the voltage from the 44-pin connector to the
44-pin card-edge connector. The voltage from the connector on the Ram
Keeper's front might be lower than that on the back used with the back
pocket card-edge connector, which I don't see any resistors on.
(Too bad we don't have a comp.sys.apple2.hardware group.)
