Sorry, pal. But with the apple internet starter kit, I can get onto the
net within 15 minutes. No joke. Total time for a new account MAY be up to
half an hour on a mac. It couldn't be simpler. First, find an access
provider through an advertisement. Then, call them, give them all the info
they need, and they'll tell you some information. (like ip addresses and
such) Then, open apple internet connection kit. It will ask you for
information. Type it in! That's it! The kit does all the "tinkering" for
you. You never touch tcp or anything like it.

And to you, chuck. Please trust me. This is not an exageration. The mac is
FAR easier to use, ESPECIALY when it comes to the net. That's why
universal studios uses macs for their web sites, and for their trailers.
That's why Apple is Number One Worldwide in Multimedia, Two Years Running!
Please, stop the suffering! Go out and get a mac. Email me if you need
help. I will hook you up. Don't waste your time with that PC! And just
think about this: over half of the technology on your pc was introduced by
apple! No, not just the interface. The cd-rom. The postscript printer.
etc... Come on. Use the computer that PC magazine uses for publishing, and
the web. The computer that Intel uses for their pentium ads. The computer
that print advertising and materials for microsoft are done on. The list
goes on and on...

Don't just take my word for it. Macs are better, cheaper (in the long run.
They come ready out of the box) faster, (studies show this. it's fact.)
Just listen to ol' Chris up there. He has a pc and he can't even get on
the net. Listen to our old buddies at pc week:

"it (Win95) was also the most requested platform to be removed"
                                                         -PC Week

Just please, don't go getting your fact's about the mac from a pc user.
Now, you said you havn't used a mac, and are open to the possibility.
Great. Let me give you some facts. First of all, most misconseptions about
the mac come from uneducated pc users. Like, "well, i like windows beter.
it has shirtcuts and a start buttun". Jeez, whenever I hear this one I
feel like hitting my head against the wall. SHORTCUTS!? Like I said,
uneducated. Chuck, on a mac there is a little apple in the top left-hand
corner. It's called the apple menu. You simply plop a file into the folder
of the same name, and it gets put in the apple menu. As long as the menu
bar is there (most always) your file/app is there. I'm sure that whenever
ol' billy boy hears the name "apple menu" a cringe jumps down his spine.
That is the one thing that would be to obvious to copy from apple. He's
been working his way around it ever since.

I could go on, but i'm sure by now you get the point. Please respond to
this, or email me and tell me what you're thinking. I'm sure all of the
other people at this board will also help you with your decision.

Roger Harford
