I'll second everything that Mark (and Nathan) said.

I have no interest in reading about easter egg contests, so I just
skip past the articles when I see them in comp.sys.apple2.  I get very
annoyed when I see yet another instance of the article posted to every
other Apple II subgroup.

For starters, the message has nothing to do with programming,
communications, or GNO (user groups and marketplace are debatable).
If the article is relevant to a particular subgroup, then it should be
cross-posted simultaneously to all appropriate groups.

It should not be posted at all on inappropriate subgroups.
