John...
Your main problem is the fact that the files are saved to a 5 1/4" disk. Mac (and I
assume PC) cannot read an Apple II 5 1/4" disk. The Mac with the PC Exchange
Extension installed can read an Apple II 3.5" ProDOS disk. You did not say what type
of files you have saved. ClarisWorks can read an Appleworks file then save the file
as a Text File.
You will need to find an Apple II with both a 5 1/4" drive AND a 3.5" drive. If the
files are Appleworks files, you can load the files into Appleworks and save the files
as a Text File (option 'Print' the file to a disk).
If you need more specific help, feel free to E-mail me. I can help you with the
Apple II or Mac part (I know next to nothing about IBM compatibles).
