Hi all. I'm as loyal an Apple II fan as any and I'm also a widely published
writer who knows a thing or too about the writing process. I never
ever was a fan of the lay-out, the commands at al. of Appleworks 1.0-5.0.
Appleworks GS is fine and may be what the original poster here is looking for.

Word Perfect 2.1 for the II gs is fine too and works well with better quality
printers. Bank Street Writer Plus is good if you like a black background
and have limited memory, if you do not have a IIgs.

Personally, one of my favorite word processors is Proterm 3.1's editor.
I can set the screen color to anything I want using CTRL-OA-ESC and I can
use a mouse. It has practically unlimited range and can save in APW or TXT
and prints using HP's basic typewriter fonts - which are more pleasing
to the eyes than most Harmonie True Type...

I can write the file using Proterm 3.1's editor, then spell check and lay-out
(double space et al.) in Appleworks GS. There is something nice and easy,
though, about Prodos 8 programs like Proterm.
But, yes, a word processor does effect basic parts of the writing process
and it is important to find one that fits.
