Count-o-meter

I am looking for a device to hook to my IIgs that will allow me to
record the number of times and the actual time that an infrared beam
is crossed.  I want to be able to analyse the info in a spreadsheet or
stats program.  I would prefer to do this on an Apple II but if
someone knows how to do this on another platform, that would be OK,
too.
