Ever since the patched HFS.FST was released I have still had errors on my
large HFS volumes. Thanks again to Dave Lyons and Jawaid Bazyar for the
patch... it has provided much more stability despite my difficulties.
Has anyone experienced an onslaught of errors with their HFS volumes even
though they are using the 1-byte patch? I have backed up, reformatted,
and restored my IBM OEM 31080 1080mb SCSI hard drive four times now and
I'm still getting errors from the Finder. The first HFS volumes I made
were ~440mb, ~300mb, and three 95mb. The 95mb volumes were very stable.
Then I made an 810mb volume. Now I have two 421mb volumes. The
remaining volumes are ProDOS. I'm getting errors while using the 421mb
volumes that indicate that the directory is damaged, I do not have
access,
the file is not found, I must re-insert the hard drive volume, and so on.
Now I have four folders that are damaged that I cannot throw into the
trash
otherwise GS/OS will crash to the monitor and I'll obviously have to
reboot. I have always had eight partitions because that is the maximum
ADU
would allow. And I'm operating the drive off an original Apple Rev.C
SCSI
card with the TRMPWR modification. I never have problems with the ProDOS
volumes.
I have patched the system to accept otherwise illegal characters with the
2qwk! patch program, however this really only affects prodos 8 stuff.
I'm using a Rom 3 IIgs with a ZipGSx 7/32, 4mb RAM, two SCSI cards (Apple
Rev C and RamFAST D), and a few other standard peripheral cards.
Any ideas here? Thanks in advance.
