Need help: transparent GS->Mac transfer on disk

Help! I need to transfer some files from a GS to a Mac. I have a
high density floppy drive and System 6.0.1 plus the HFS FST
installed, so getting the file onto a Mac readable disk is not
a problem (the FST bug dosn't affect 1.44MB floppies, right?).

I've noticed that for most file formats, after the file is placed
onto a Mac disk, the creator/type (?) must be set before Mac
programs can see the file. But for the application in question,
the Mac user(s) must be able to open the file directly [ie. they
haven't transfered files from Apples to Macs before so they won't
want to mess with attribute editing].

Is it true that if the file is saved as ASCII text, the Mac can
see and launch the document without resetting the creator/type?
Will it be recognized as an ASCII file right away? I realize that
if this is so, the TeachText (SimpleText?) Mac application will
probably be the one that will get launched with the file, but
that's ok. Formatting is not important, but ease of transfer is.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
