Hard disk caching is most useful for programs which do lots of
on-the-fly disk I/O. For example, you would be likely to notice a speed
improvement in processing a folder containing several pics under
Convert3200 or working with a large AppleWorks data base.

Relatively few IIgs programs depend upon frequent in-process hard
disk accesses. You might notice an improvement using telecom wares which
read and/or write files from/to hard disk. However, RAM disk is a handy,
probably faster, alternative for dealing with a need for extra speed.

It is true that caching can significantly improve accesses to
diskettes; but, who would run a disk-intensive program from diskette?
Today's hard disks are so fast that accessing cached information in IIgs
memory usually does not produce much speed gain.
