Hard drive help...

The hard drive I currently have for my //gs is having troubles.  The actual
drive is fine.  However, the cooling fan (it's an ext. drive) is about to have
a heart attack.  It actually sounds like someone's sawing the drive in half
with a chain saw.  The fan is not working too well, to say the least.  I've
tried to open the case in attempt to do something, but there's not way those
screws are going anywhere.  Obviously, they weren't put there by human hands,
since they are much too tight.  Would it be worth sending back to the company? 
I'm not even sure of the company... Sequential?  (There's a big Q on the front) 
Or should I just find a new cheap drive?
