Funny, you seemed to have written off the entire discussion, during
which, Joe Kohn said many times something that you asked below.
Instead of ignoring the entire discussion, may I suggest that you
selectively ignore the people who are full of bullshit, lies, and
misdirection, especially Charles 'Dr. Wrong' Turley, and the others.

And that's precisely why the debate started. Joe Kohn is selling
OFFICIAL, shrink-wrapped copies for $6 each, an order of magnitude
cheaper than what you don't like. But, people would rather pirate a
copy than pay the pittance for a real copy.
Dr. Wrong has finally admitted, under pressure, that he did f***
up, and he's made a step to fix that one messup he did. He's also
changed the way he signs his posts to try and appear like someone
else, as he's finally figured out that others dislike him precisely
because of his many faults. However, while trying to make out under a
new identity may work with the French Foreign Legion, it won't work
here. People's memories here are longer than the time it takes to
expire off a post from Dr. Wrong's servers.
Charles Turley should do the honorable thing and leave the Apple II
internet scene, permanently. He has done more harm than good by
starting these long debates that people hate, and refusing to change,
so the debates will flare up again for the same reasons: he's a lying,
pirating slimeball with no grip on reality. Only by removing himself
from the discussions will there be some guarantee of more peace and
quiet.
He's trying to duck out from the issue by saying "let's all be one
happy family and let the matter drop," but that's only a cop-out. He
knows he's the cow spewing all the s**t over the group, and shouldn't
be tolerated as long as he does not reform his ways permanently.
Fixing the one thing that caused the current problems is not evidence
of that; it's only a stop-gap until he's caught red-handed again.
