Ahh, but if you're using CAT5 wire, it's NO problem.  (ran a localtalk
connection on phonenet on CAT5 past a physics lab and a run length of about
90 meters, and it works quite nicely.  superb, even.  still in place and used
daily in the old high school.)

i tell ya... CAT5 is worth it.  for use in a house, however, CAT3 should be
fine.
