(I couldn't resist this one...)
I think that with a minor re-wiring many IBM type paddles can be made to
function on the ]['s; it's a 150k potentiometer hooked across the game
port, so you can even build a set yourself... 8-)
As for FTP sites...I believe that all of the most recent system software
(including the latest versions of ProDOS and GS/OS) are available from
support.apple.com. There are a couple of really broad FTP archives for
other A][ stuff as well, notably ground.isca.uiowa.edu. There, you can
even find a copy of AppleWriter ][e and a couple of comm programs.
As for getting the stuff into the ][ from another machine, you can use a
null-modem transfer to do it, using standard communications software.
But then, you have a problem: no comm software on the ][. Someone who
reads this group offers a starter package with everything you need
software-wise to get started with A][ communications.
