What you get is:

65C02 microprocessor - lower power and a couple extra op codes.
CD ROM
EF ROM
Character set ROM - "mouse text"

Some software and/or hardware requires the 65C02 or enhanced ROM's.
The purpose was to make the 2e as much like the 2c as possible for
software compatibility.
