What you get with the enhancement:

65C02 microprocessor
CD ROM chip (Applesoft/Monitor ROM)
EF ROM chip (Applesoft/Monitor ROM)
Video ROM (character set)

What this gives you:
Some minor enhancements to Applesoft (notably the ability to type commands
in lower case and some changes to LIST formatting)

A *MAJOR* upgrade of the 80-column text display firmware

The return of the Mini-Assembler

The new 65C02 opcodes, allowing compatibility with some of the newer
software that requires the 65C02

(possibly) a minor update to the ROM disassembler to handle the new 65C02
opcodes

The mouseText character set (big deal!)

To check to see which version you have, empty the disk drives and power up
the machine. If you see:

                Apple ][
then you have the unenhanced ][e. If you have the enhancement, then the
power-up splash screen will show:
                Apple //e
