Sorry to read you have problems with the ground archive. It also sounds
like most of the problem is on YOUR end, not mine. :) If you are using
LYNX, then you must have the .shk .SHK .bxy .BXY .bny .BNY (and .sdk
.SDK) types defined in your .mime.types file. Then LYNX will transfer
those files as binary, regardless of the ground filetype. Yes, I don't
doubt that files appear as text filetypes. I also don't have a clue
how to start changing filetypes under DomainOS.

The appropriate people to contact about ground.isca.uiowa.edu are
1) (myself, Steven Nelson) apple2pd@isca.uiowa.edu or
2) (Brett Davis) macpd@isca.uiowa.edu [who really runs the ground machine
and knows all the tricks of trade about fiddling with the OS].

I would also point out that most of the files on ground's apple2/ are also
in bsq format (.bsq or .MofN, where M and N are integers) - which are text
files so Lynx can go ahead and grab them as such.

Other methods of accessing ground are 'telnet ground.isca.uiowa.edu' or
'ftp ground.isca.uiowa.edu' (loginid=anonymous, passwd=userid@site)

The URL ftp://ground.isca.uiowa.edu/bbs/files/2/apple2 should also work.

Happy downloading!
