    Suppose Apple were to announce a successor to the IIgs:

    "7 September 1996: Apple Computer today took off the wraps on it's
much-rumored new Apple II.  'Altaire represents a renewed commitment to
bringing, powerful, fun, friendly computing to the home user,' announced
Apple's C.E.O. in the introduction to a spectacular demonstration of '21st
century' graphics and sound capabilities. Featuring the ... processor and
boasting ..., Altaire expressly contains 'not a scrap of PC
compatibility'. Industry observers ...."
