 You don't say whether you have an ImageWriter I or II.  The settings that
follow are for an IW-II.
 
   You should be getting your LF after CR control from AppleWorks. You don't
need to mess with the switches inside the IW-II.
 
   Here are the switch settings for the IW-II:
 
 NOTE:  the term "open" means the DIP switchs is away from the number, "closed"
means the switch is near the number.
 
SW-1
 
   1  open     char set (US)
   2  open      "
   3  open      "
   4  open     page length 66 lines
   5  open     don't skip perforations
   6  closed   12 cpi
   7  open     12 cpi
   8  open     LF after CR
 
SW-2
 
  1  closed  baud rate 9600
  2  closed  baud rate 9600
  3  open    comm protocol (DTR handshake)
  4  open    option card
 
Do not move switchs 5 and 6.  They have to do with print alignment and are use
when the drive belt is replaced.
