Yes, you should be able to use a 230 MB Magneto-Optical (MO) drive.
I'm using a 128 MB Fujitso MO drive on my GS, and it works (almost)
flawlessly with the RamFAST SCSI interface. I tried it with the
Apple High-Speed SCSI card with no success, but I didn't try any
tricks like leaving a cartridge in when booting.

The reason I say "almost" above is that there's one thing to be
aware of with the RamFAST. Do _not_ write-protect the cartridge,
or else the RamFAST will crash the system when you attempt to write
to it. (The RamFAST doesn't know about the hardware write-protect
switch, tries to write to the cartridge, and crashes when the write
fails.) Write-protecting with the RamFAST utility ("software"
write protection) works fine.
