The assembler was posted to comp.binaries.apple2 just a few days ago.

As far as archives go, Lynx will only use binary if it knows the file is 
binary.  It has to be told that .shk is a binary file type.  I don't know 
how to tell it, so I started accessing the archives with NC-FTP, which 
allows you to set a flag to have all files copied as binary.  NC-FTP also 
gives you a 'normal' shell style interface with help so you don't have to 
wonder what's going on or where you're at (a problem with plain FTP).
It also will retain a list of hosts (sites) that you can edit with 
abbreviated names for the sites.
