Well, now, if you can find a Hewlett-Packard type Laserjet printer that
should work very well on a GS equipped with a parallel card and a printer
driver from either Vitesse (Harmonie) or Seven Hills (Independence). I
assume that it would come with a serial port for Mac use, or that you get
a serial-to-parallel cable.
On the other hand, I took the route of buying an old LaserWriter Plus
(postscript) printer for a number of reasons:
1. as a PostScript printer, I could network it and use it either from my
GS or my wife's Mac without problems.
2. Those suckers are built like TANKS! (77 lbs)
3. Being an old model, it was cheap ($450 Canadian)
4. You can print large fonts (up to 255 points) at the highest quality.
You're restricted t6o the built-in fonts if you are printing from the GS,
unless you upload a Postscript font to the printer before you print the
document. You can do this with LaserBeam 1.1, a $10(U.S.) program from
EGO Systems.
