Do you drive an electric car for your intown needs (or take a bus)?
Do you use energy efficient washers, driers, refrigerators, dishwashrs
and the like? Does you house have built in computer automation? Is
it designed to use the natural environment well (solar panels, correct
ventilation to make heating and cooling MUCH cheaper and less waste).
Do you only use the expensive pens that will write in outerspace? Do
you only do EVERYTHING to the best human's current technology,
science, and wisdom will allow?
I SERIOUSLY doubt it.
I use Pentiums. I use Macs (860X0's and PPC's). I use a SPARC
station. And I use my Apple ][gs. I like them all (well, maybe not
the Pentium, even I have my standards). There are things each of them
are best suited for. As I use my UNIX account (SUN? I am not even
sure, not a machine I manage), I do so from my ][gs. I do much of my
writing on a ][gs. I even do some programming on my ][gs (still get a
craving for Apple BASIC every now and again... one of my closet
skeletons).
Different people and different situations are best suited on a variety
of hardware. I have found those folks on the Apple ]['s to know quite
a bit about modern machines. I find that most MacOS fans know much
about PC's. I find that most PC fans knwo little about anything else.
Part of this is from the huge PC market share. Much is from ignorance
- if you know the various tools available, you would see the modern
Pentium running Win 95 and MS Office is in many ways inferior to a
MacOS 040/25 machine running ClarisWorks. Or an Apple ][ running
AppleWorks.
