Well, if you can get the bottom of the spring slipped over the existing
battery lead, that ought to work.  Naturally, the battery lead will not
hold as securely in the spring as if you were to solder it, but if you're
scared of re-soldering a battery once every seven years or so, that would
solve your problem.
