While this is still expensive for 2 to 3 hours a month, primenet offers a
shell account in some areas for $16/month unlimited hours. Some of their
locations are more expensive, going up to about $24 a month for a shell
account. This provides full access, including WWW via lynx, ftp, gopher,
email, usenet, etc.
They have an 800 number, but I don't know if it is available nationwide,
800-4-NET-FUN
I'm sure Delphi still exists, but there charges may be as high as Genie,
Compuserve, or AOL. Prodogy (a misnomer if there ever was one) is definatly
out of the running, which actually applies to AOL also. Neither provides
software to link with any Apple II system, even though it was Apple II
user's money which made AOL what it is today.
